Introduction

This set of files contains all you need to run a Sports Day.

Where did the idea come from?

We have long held a Sports Day Competition each year in our District. This is normally a popular competition run for the Cubs, Scouts and Explorers. This set of resources enabled me to solve long running problems such as administration, layout, labelling, communication and planning.

Do they really make a difference?

This material can help you run the event smoothly. I instigated a set of resources that allowed us to lay out the programme clearly, give each group an event category sheet that they can write their kids names on during the day, produce a set of useful scoresheets for the admin people in the main tent so they can track and score events throughout the day. Also included are rules that would be laminated and posted around the site and other administration material. The certificates would be printed on colour coded paper, red for 1st, yello for 2nd and green for 3rd.

Ok. How do I go about making them?

I constructed my original challenges using Microsoft Word 97. You can make use of Word's templates and ready made files/wizards to give you the basic layout that you prefer. A simple modification of the text can give you a usable challenge in a short amount of time.
